Power Supply Systems for Remotely Operated Unmanned Submersibles

Description

These power supply systems are designed to be used in unmanned, remote operated deep-sea submersibles with a high power supply capacity and an up to 8,000 m long conducting wire.

The new power supply systems have two sections: on-board and submerged. The on-board section is powered by the supporting ship’s power mains (primary or backup) with a voltage of 38 B and frequency of 50Hz. Via the conducting cable, the voltage is conducted from the on-board power supply system to the submerged power supply system installed on the depressor garage and the submersible.

Specifications

  • Power output: 10 to 60 kW.
  • Feed voltage: 380 V, 50 Hz.
  • Output voltage: 300 V and 600 V.
  • Maximum output voltage deviation: ± 10 %.
  • Output voltage ripple factor: 0.5 %.
  • Length of conducting wire: up to 8,000 m.
  • Surrounding temperature: -40 C to + 300 С for submerged part.
  • On-board humidity: up to 98% at + 350 С.
  • Roll/pitch amplitude: ± 10.3 degrees, 9.5 second period.

Advantages

  1. Remote operation
  2. Usability for emergency diagnostics: supply voltage failure or decrease, обрыва фаз сети, ground cable break/absence, activation of thermal and voltage-surge protection
  3. Automatic switch from primary to backup mains
  4. High specific underwater performance: up to 2.5 kW/kg
  5. Extended service life: 10 years or 20,000 hours.

Application

  • Power supply systems for remotely operated unmanned submersibles
  • Power supply systems for remote facilities.
