Honorary Consul of Russia in Penang (Malaysia) visited TUSUR

April 30, 2015

On April 22 the Honorary Consul of Russia in Penang (Malaysia) Mr. Teoh Seng Lee visited TUSUR University.

The Honorary Consul visited TUSUR to learn about the educational opportunities offered by our University to international students: he learned about the degree programs offered at TUSUR and the technologies and methods integrated in the educational process, namely about project-based group learning and distance learning.

Mr. Teoh Seng Lee said that TUSUR is of particular interest for prospective students from Malaysia as the state of Penang where he works and lives is one of the major locations for electronics and computer assembly industry.

“At TUSUR I saw the model of development based on strong connection between education and industry that could be beneficial for Malaysian universities. Successful implementation of this model by your University is inspiring, and I hope that one day Malaysian universities find interest in cooperation with the industry,” he said.

TUSUR University will be listed among partners of Russian Resources – a student recruitment company based in Malaysia, and first students from Malaysia could enroll to TUSUR next year.

Mr. Lee has been working with Russian universities for 18 years and has brought over 7000 Malaysian students to study in Russia. He says that they readily take the challenge of having to learn Russian as they see it as an advantage in the global labor market.
