Bachelor program “Automation of Technology and Production”

Program code: 15.03.04

Specialization: Automation Systems for Technology Processes and Production
Department of Computer Control and Design Systems

One of the key features of modern control systems used in technology processes and production is their high level of automation that requires that a large number of devices must be linked by power lines and information networks. That creates a high demand for professionals who can design and operate various hardware/software systems for automation and control.

The program curriculum includes physics, mathematics, theoretical and applied mechanics, theory of automated control, metrology, standardization and certification, information technology, software engineering and algorithm development, electrical engineering and electronics, system simulation, automation of technology processes and production, tools of automation, microprocessor control and automation, programmable logical controllers, design of automated systems, economics and process management.

New knowledge will enable students to design automation and control systems using SCADA systems and programmable logical controllers and to operate them; design electronic devices using latest microcontrollers; engineer of both system-level and application software.

Many instructors delivering classes for this program are leading electronics, software and control system engineers at industrial enterprises in Tomsk and other Russian cities. Students benefit from their first-hand practical knowledge based on their professional experience in the industry. The fundamental principle of the program is to rely on real-life projects and latest software and hardware tools, which is made possible through close cooperation with some of the leading global microchip and automation technology manufacturers (Milandr, STMicroelectronics, TexasInstruments, Atmel, NationalInstruments). That allows recent graduates an easy adaptation to work in the industry.

Masterdegree

After obtaining their Bachelor degree, students can continue their studies with the “Control in Engineering Systems” Master degree program (programs: “Control and Automation of Technology Processes and Production”).

Participation in real projects

Instruction at TUSUR University utilizes the principles of project-based group learning.

Students pursuing a degree in Automation of Technology Processes and Production contribute to a number of fascinating projects:

Design of process data collection system for pipeline electric valve actuators. Within this project, students design a software-hardware complex that must deliver collection, storage and processing of process data for pipeline electric valve actuators. The practical value of the project is in automation of the process of data collection and processing, delivered in a convenient format.

Microcontrollers are easy! Within this project, students acquire an in-depth knowledge of modern microcontroller programming and contribute to design of a process control system for various enterprises of Tomsk region.

These and many more projects are used in the curriculum of the Automation Systems for Technology Processes and Production program, and any student may propose a new one that will be used in project-based group learning.
