TUSUR and KarTU Discuss Areas of Research Cooperation

On May 26, 2026, TUSUR hosted Professor Ali Mehtiyev, Vice‑Rector for Science and Innovation at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University (KarTU), for a working visit. The main goal was to explore new avenues for scientific partnership and to finalize details on academic exchange programs for master’s and doctoral students.

On May 26, 2026, TUSUR hosted Professor Ali Mehtiyev, Vice‑Rector for Science and Innovation at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University (KarTU), for a working visit. The main goal was to explore new avenues for scientific partnership and to finalize details on academic exchange programs for master’s and doctoral students.

First Vice‑Rector Elena Kuzmina opened the meeting by outlining TUSUR’s key development programs and priority research areas. Head of the Research Directorate Alexander Medovnik presented a showcase of the university’s most significant projects completed for industrial partners, including electron‑beam synthesis of protective ceramic coatings, next‑generation communication systems, AI applications in industry, information security, power and microwave electronics, and other emerging fields.

Professor Mehtiyev, in turn, presented KarTU’s research and educational potential, highlighting both its traditional strengths and new topics the university is just beginning to explore. He particularly noted KarTU’s growing interest in radio engineering, pointing to substantial overlap with TUSUR’s expertise, and expressed a keen interest in launching joint master’s programs.

During the visit, Professor Mehtiyev toured TUSUR’s research and educational infrastructure, including the Advanced Engineering School and the Research Institute of Microwave Electronics and Radiophotonics.

This meeting follows the cooperation agreement signed in March between TUSUR Rector Victor Rulevskiy and KarTU Vice‑Rector for Academic Affairs Bekbolat Nusupbekov. That agreement paved the way for academic exchanges, joint research and educational projects, collaborative R&D, and joint scientific events.

Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University is one of Kazakhstan’s leading technical universities. Founded in 1953 as the Karaganda Mining Institute, it became the country’s first polytechnic institute in 1958. Its core research areas include mining, ICT, energy, automation, and control systems.
