TUSUR Ranked Among Top 5 Russian Universities in TOP-IT Grant Competition
Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics has once again confirmed its status as a leading center for top‑tier IT education. Following a competitive selection by the Ministry of Digital Development and the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation, TUSUR made it into the top five universities nationwide awarded the right to run educational programmed under the federal project TOP‑IT.
TUSUR was the only university in Tomsk to receive a 2026 grant for training elite IT specialists, ranking 4th among a total of 34 applicant universities.
The selection is part of the federal project Personnel for Digital Transformation, designed to support universities that train highly-qualified developers capable of tackling complex challenges and growing rapidly in their field. By 2030, at least 3,500 such professionals are expected to enter the job market.
This academic year, students will be able to apply to two new programs at the TUSUR IT‑Academy: Industrial Development of Software Products and AI Systems (within the 09.03.04 bachelor major in Software Engineering) and Computer Systems Security (within the 10.03.01 bachelor major in Information Security). Both are built around a practical‑oriented model: at least 60% of study time is devoted to hands‑on work and internships at IT companies. Students will be solving real‑world industrial cases, with key partners including MAG Development, Notamedia, IndaSoft, CFT, UserGate, Aladdin R.D., and InfoTeKS – all contributing to the practical training.

TUSUR has long been among top regional universities for software development education. Its successful performance in this strict competition reflects the university’s systematic work in fostering tech entrepreneurship and integrating education with the real economy. Classes will start this year and will include mandatory practicums, internships, and work on live IT cases – allowing students to gain experience with current business challenges from the very beginning of their studies.
