Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics was included in the first Entrepreneurial University Rankings, as published by the Analytics Center Expert.
Only 38 Russian universities have qualified for the new university ranking. TUSUR University has ranked 33rd—34th, placing ahead of Siberian and Kazan Federal Universities, Kazan National Research Technology University and Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University.
The first Entrepreneurial University Ranking was compiled by the Analytics Center Expert as part of a project designed to assess the contribution of Russian universities to the global innovation-driven development. The project’s goal is to produce a comprehensive overview of universities’ performance in the various aspects of entrepreneurship. Three different rankings have been published within the project: research output ranking, invention activity and entrepreneurial university ranking. The latter aims to evaluate the ability of universities to generate innovative entrepreneurs for the new economy.
Inclusion of TUSUR in the new ranking is a valuable acknowledgment of its strategy for development as an entrepreneurial university. Its academic trajectory has been adapted to reflect the strategy’s objectives, with the university becoming one of the pioneers of group-based learning in Russia. In accordance with the strategy, the research trajectory at TUSUR is also focused on commercialization of innovation and is supported by specialized infrastructure: university student and technology business incubators, commercialization office, etc.
The ranking only included universities that have produced at least four startups in the last ten years. The qualifying universities were evaluated based on seven criteria representing the number of financial performance of their spin-off companies and their internet presence.
The Entrepreneurial University Ranking is a new addition to the lineup of university rankings published by Expert.
